We signed up for the first annual Battle of the Tees without having done anything like it before. The focus was on local t-shirt companies. Held at the Abbey Pub, BoT had about 10 brands present. All attendees were asked to vote for their top three favorite brands to determine the winners.
Being mildly obsessive about all things, I looked up many of the other brands. A lot of them had bigger followings than we did. But we were determined to bring our best with the help of a handful of friends. Throughout the day, loads of local entertainment graced the stage. We made our rounds talking to all the other brands. I love meeting like minds! So needless to say, I was very excited to meet other t-shirt slingers.
So how did we hold ground in the votes? We had a great interactive display and talked to as many people as we could. We asked people to simply vote for their favorite tees of ours in our "wishing wells." I don't believe in pushing a sale. But I do believe that if you can get feedback, you should absolutely get it. Matt built us a custom display for our shirts. Devon came up with the "wishing well" theme. And Monique, Frank, and Robin helped us work the crowd. We sold some tees and met great people. I couldn't have asked for a better day!
When they finally announced the winners, I was pleasantly surprised! We were very humbled to a part of such an amazing event with so many wonderful local t-shirt vendors. It's our first real accolade, and we're very honored. We're also taking that energy and moving it towards our future goals. We could never say our thank you's enough.
